Rocky is actually a Whatsamacallit Hound--we don't really know. You may not be able to see it from the pics but he looks and acts a lot like a Dalmatian and may have some sort of shepherd in him too. He does this weird herding thing with his nose. We thought because of his strangely muscular hind-quarters that he was also part greyhound. It would be interesting to have him take the DNA test to find out what he really is.

Dogs and foster care. There does not seem to be a bias against foster homes with dogs. They cover that issue during the home study including making sure that family pets receive rabies vaccinations.

Want another dog? Mine doesn't like children. So yeah, maybe not. I'm so jealous to hear of one of your dogs being Ty's best friend. Mine doesn't want anything to do with our toddler, and barks at him when he persistently pursues her. Sigh.

Rocky looks like he's got some pit/Boston bull terrier in him? I grew up only ever hearing bad things about "pit-bulls," but I've since met a lot of them and found them to be wonderfully sweet and loving dogs.

I do have a question--Did you have a harder time getting "vetted" as adoptive parents because of the dogs? I know some insurance companies won't even insure homeowners who have certain breeds of dogs (pits, rottweilers, etc..) I wondered if the foster care system/adoption agencies would be more wary of doing placements in homes with large dogs because of the (admittedly very small) risk of aggression?
