I see why Chelsea would get her hackles up at a question like that, but "it's none of your business" doesn't really make sense as a response. As the first commenter pointed out, it's very much our business how a major scandal affects a candidate's credibility.

Whether or not Chelsea chooses to respond to that particular question is, however, up to her. She could have just said something like, "That's a very painful subject for me on a personal level, and I'd really rather not discuss it."

If you someone cheats in the most important function of their personal life, do you really want to trust them with control of the country? And, conversely, if their spouse chooses to look the other way and not act on the situation, is that a person who you want to trust watching over the security of the free world?

I disagreewith all of you so far it's in the past and it really is none of our business it really has nothing to do with how she would run our country. The fact the she is still standing next to him or he next to her now, says much more it takes a bigger person to stay with that person than it dose to leave them it takes more strength, courage and she sould be given respect for that not torn apart afterall it wasen't her who did the "crime." She has obviously moved forward from that issue and has done a lot since then.

It is very much or business! The question was from a Clinton supporter and he is the editor of the campus newspaper at Butler University, not just someone looking discredit her mother. She had the opportunity to say that in times of high stress her mother (and presidential candidate)can get things done and not let her personal life impact her job. The fact of the matter is that Bill has CHEATED on her several times now, does anyone think that it will never happen again?! If (and to some when)it happens again we need to know that she isn't going to let it impact her job as the president. It was a totally fair question and should have been answered.

I think Chelsea's answer is a little unfair. Admittedly, the questioner could have asked the question better.

I think the student was trying to get to the notion of whether or not then First Lady Clinton's accusations and attacks of a massive "right-wing conspiracy" (in light of what we know now) damaged her credibility and judgement. That is separate from the number of days President Clinton was in the doghouse, when he got to takl to her again or how they worked through it personally. That, I agree, is none of our business.

Her public remarks and method in dealing with the press are our business because they directly relate to how she may deal with future issues as president.

Its fascinating how the American people are so easily distracted from issues that really matter. Opposed to getting titilated by who Obama and McCain's pastor is and what they think , you may want to take time to consider what if any of this has to do with your paying $4.00 a gallon for gasoline; 63,000 jobs lost in the month of February; the war in Iraq which is siphoning off $13 billion a month; 47 million Americans without healthcare; the Gulf coast still resembling a war zone two years post Katrina; a gallon of milk costing almost $5.00; the astronomical number of houses in foreclosure; American banking systems threatening to go under with your money still in it; gang violence out of control in many parts of the country especially the Mid west; the number of children in this country living two to three times below the federal poverty level; education system shot to hell --and I could go on. Keep on focusing on the dumb stuff and this country will get the government you already have and deserve because you refuse to look through all the smoke and mirrors. Keep focused on the media and its titillation de jour and come November you will all be living in a tent and getting to work on a skateboard because you were too focused on somebody's pastor instead of the real issues. Stay drunk with distraction if you will. I wish you well in the outcomes realized.

I find her increasingly mud slinging tactics and the Clinton history of "Playing Dirty" is well known. Had Obama taken Texas, she may not have been as mean, yes, mean as she was. We all have to remember, that the Democratic Party itself, often will prime, as they did with John Edwards in 2000, candidates they want to be the Representative for the Democratic Party. As long as "Bill" is kept locked away, her numbers increase, but when he begins to speak for her, her numbers drop and Obama wins more. It is interesting to note he is now drawing people from all colors, including more white men, more of his young supporters are college graduates. If women weren't voting for Clinton merely because she was a woman, she would have tossed in the towel long ago. I dislike mud slinging and name calling more than anything.

I would like to add, regarding John McCain and his birth in Panama, he really cannot run for President and I am shocked he has gotten this far. My son was born in Japan, where his American Dad was in the Navy serving his country, I am an American born US Citizen. When he was born and we had to take him to the American Embassy in Tokyo, we were told he would need at one point a "Certificate of Citizenship" and that there were two things he could never do with (1) He could never run for President of the United States and (2) He could never hold either an FCC or FAA License, I have forgetten as he is 40 now. But legally, John McCain cannot legally run for President and I am surprised he has gotten this far.
