Political Nanny

Political Nanny Favorite to Drop Out of Race

Political Nanny is so sad! One of her favorite candidates will announce Friday at a press conference that he is dropping out of the presidential race.

Dennis Kucinich told his hometown newspaper, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, that he would announce the official end of his presidential bid at a press conference Friday. Sigh. But who can blame him. He was a long-shot for the Democratic nomination for sure. And he's facing a big challenge in the primaries for his congressional seat, which he has a more realistic chance of keeping a hold of. Political Nanny is crossing her fingers for Dennis for sure.

Kucinich didn't offer his support for any one candidate. "I have zero intention of getting involved in the primaries at all," he said.

Then:

There's a point at which you realize, you accept it, it's not going to happen. You move on. After being precluded from all the debates, yesterday I found out I couldn't get into the one in L.A. That and the polarization in the race is making it very difficult.

Agreed!

Kucinich might have come across as a nutter, but he was a nutter with strong convictions! You knew what he thought! You knew where he stood! He wasn't scared to suggest impeachment. You suggested it too! See how much you loved him?

So Political Nanny is sad to be packing up his bag and sending him on his way, so soon after she packed up Republican Fred Thompson's (and Duncan Hunter's). The field is narrowing in both parties. We're down to the single digits -- 9.

(Quick question: with Fred and Dennis out, who's going to wear the candidate with a hot spouse badge?)
