Costume Change

The thing about life is one day your kids will be old enough to choose their own Halloween Costumes.

For the past two Halloweens I've managed to invent costumes for all of us -- homemade or at least, homemade-ish. Last year, if you recall, Archer went as The Rubber Ducky. Hal was a perfect Bert of course and I went as a bad-hair-day Ernie with clown aspirations.

And the year before Archer was "The Illustrated Man" and I, the Bearded Lady.  (My beard was constructed from real hair I cut off my head and double-side-taped to my face, FYI.)

(Hal went as Siamese Twins.)

A circus sideshow, indeed!

This year I wanted to go with a space-theme, thinking Archer would be into it. Plus, Hal wanted to go as Bruce Willis from Armageddon, so I was working with that. I figured I'd construct some kind of "Saturn" costume using a Hula Hoop but Archer didn't want to be Saturn. He wanted to be a dragon/dinosaur/alligator fusion beast, which is a GREAT idea for sure (obviously!) it's just that... I can't exactly make it. At least not right now.

So this year, although Hal and my costumes have a "theme," Archer's and Fable's do not, which means my whole "let's all dress up together and match" plan didn't quite work out this year. Archer has a mind of his own it would seem. Sigh...

Luckily, though, for me and my wacky costume ideas, I have a newbie and she? Putty in my hands for at LEAST another year. And her costume? Will absolutely NOT disappoint. (Pictures to come!)

Happy Halloweeeeeeeeve, everybody!!!

I love the costumes! I got to dress my 2 month old this year and I have another year or two where I get to do what I want and then, sadly, I'll have to cater to her wishes for Halloween.
