For those of us fond of snapping photos of our spawn, there is nothing more exciting/rewarding/feel-goody than capturing THE photo. You know what I'm talking about: the hard-to-come-by money shot. In my library of five thousand zillion trillion photos, I have twenty (give or take) I'd classify as "wow"...
This was my first:

Archer is three-months old, here. When I got my proof sheets back I was so impressed by my ability to snap such a shot that I almost started my own child headshot-taking studio-agency-thing. (I live in LA after all, and at the time was making my living writing copy for adult websites -- I was desperate for cash, man! And I mean... if that photo isn't a Stage Mom's dream... Right?)
About four months later, this photo happened:

This is Archer and my Boston Terrier, Zadie, eyeing each other. It looks like the cover of a cheeseball "puppies and babies aw how cute omg" Hallmark card but COME ON! It's so cute I die. I'm dead now. R.I.P.
A year later I took this one (below) which makes me want to cry because where did this elfesque little boy go? I want to hold his hand and take him to the promised land, Hootie style. Wait. That came out weird. Never mind.
I would classiy this next one a "money shot" as well even though it's a picture of Archer's back because it's SO the way Archer used to be: my little spectator who I adore, watching a boy and his father leave the playground. Archer was two-years-old, here:

This next photo was taken last summer. Archer was naked, running around my parent's backyard, tugging at the various chimes and birdhouses hanging from the trees. I love the light on his body.

This is my all-time favorite photo of Archer ever. I don't think I'll ever come close to beating this photo. I heart.

Here's another one I absolutely love for no reason. It's from a few months ago. That is all.
Of course there's also Fable who has many a money shot in her future. This just happens to be the ONE so far. She wasn't even a week-old here if you can believe. And her dress? Already too small. Sniff!

Which brings me to the reason for this post. Last night I took this:

I took a lot of other photos, too, but who even cares about them? THIS is the one every relative, friend and stranger will be getting framed for Christmas/Hanukkah. And me? I'm still staring at it in awe like I did with all of the other photos featured in this post, blown away by the beauty of my babes and to be honest? Impressed I could capture such perfection without a crew of makeup, hair and set designers. Is this what my life looks like? Am I dreaming? Where did these little people come from and how is it possible I could create such... Okay, I'll stop now.
What about you? Let's see your money-shots. Come on. I know you have them on standby. Share! Share! Below! Below!
