Parents: IF You had Free Time What would you Do?

reading on the beachAs parents, we really don't get much free time. I know, I'm preaching to the choir, right? Let's do a mental exercise for a minute. What would you do if you did get some free time? VampDaddy has been thinking a lot about this. He has a list of several things he would do if he got a break that includes yoga, reading, estate planning and uploading all of his cds to itunes.

Hmmm. If I had free time I'm thinking sleep would top my list. I'd also be very interested in going to the beach (assuming it was a lot warmer) and taking a leisurely bath. Maybe I'd go to the National Gallery. I'd also probably cave into the peer pressure and check out Second Life.

What would you do if you had free time?

Who says you CAN'T go to the National Gallery?  I went with my wife, three-year-old and three-month-old (both kids very well behaved), and had a good time.  Judging by the number of Peg Peregos I saw there, plenty of other parents had the same idea too.

If I had more free time, sad to say, I'd get more organized and probably get more exercise.

I would do more of what I did pre-baby: I would sew more.  Knit more (and actually FINISH stuff).  Take guitar lessons again.  Get a dog.  Spend more time in pub-crawling through NYC.  Train for a triathlon.  Shave my legs more often.

As it stands right now, I get Sundays "off" and I go to the gym, hit the bookstore for coffee and trashy magazines, then I hide from my family for an hour or so to knit.

Definitely more time in the gym, more regularly. I would also spend more time reading and writing for pleasure (rather than for study). More nights out with my wife - it's rare we get to go on a 'date' these days :(
