The "Sugar Crankies" are the little gremlins that take over your otherwise reasonably sweet children during any holidays which involve stockings, shoes, baskets, or bowls filled with candy. Throw in some visiting "I love to see their faces when I give them chocolate bunnies" grandparents, and you have yourself one helluva an afternoon and evening of fights and whining ahead, my friends.
And even though Easter favorites like Li'l Peeps can be made healthier, you simply can't make a piece of celery out of a stack of candy and carbs. The link between sugar and mood has long been established, but the day to day struggle of living with a multi-modal-sugar-freak-out cannot be overstated.
It's so bad around my house when the small people have the sugar, we've eliminated it all together. And days like today when I forget, for just long enough for us to bake a birthday cake for our youngest and hand out the beaters for licking, it all comes back. In stereo.
