Moms Rising: Now with Caffeine!

moms risingLooking for a Mother's Day gift that really means something? MomsRising, the organization working for a more family-friendly America, has partnered with Farley's coffee to sell beans to support their cause.

Mmmm. Sweet, sweet coffee. Nectar of the gods. I didn't start drinking coffee until July of 2002. That was the month my first daughter was born and the month I became hopelessly addicted. Many mothers and fathers I know have a similar story to tell.

A bag of beans won't just wake mom up, but will also help MomsRising to wake up our legislators and encourage them to support paid maternity and paternity leave, flexible work plans, healthcare for all kids, and fair wages, among other worthy causes.

The beans are sold separately or can be paired with the MomsRising book for under twenty bucks. A great deal if you ask me. If coffee isn't a favorite of the mother in your life (What?! Who is this woman?), you can always send a MomsRising Mother's Day ecard

So the crazy socialists at MomsRising are joining their capitalist overlords to make money to try to design more unaffordable government programs. Nutjobs, all of them. Maybe we shoudl just turn over our entire paychecks to the governement and let them ration toilet paper too us as well.

If they promised everyone a Mercedes and a mansion in the sky would you believe that, too?

Oooh a Mercedes and a mansion!

No, Rahab. I'd just love all children, esp. those with chronic health problems, to be able to have healthcare so families don't have to go broke caring for them. Among other things.

The US spends more on health care per capita than any other nation

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=27348

So if we already spend the most, how is throwing more money at this going to help? Where does momsrising come up with an intelligent answer to rising medical costs? No where they just say give us more tax dollaras and that will fix it. But it won't. It will just make those of us who are middle class poorer so we will all have the same standard of living: a really crappy one. The government controls the VA system - you don't hear about any vets with insurace choosing that over private care.

We do not have children being denied lifesaving care in hospitals - it just doesn't happen beyond a fluke here or there which would still  happen if we all throw our entire paychecks to the government and work as slaves. Further we have medicaid for poor children.

Throwing out the "But the poor children bit" is rubbish. This will lower the quality of life for millions of lower middle class families thus creating more children living in financial dire straights.
