Things Fall Apart: Lucky Horseshoe and Dice Rings

dice ring

dice ringParents, those rings your little gamblers-in-training are rockin' are bad luck.

The horse shoe and dice rings contain high levels of lead which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Even more disturbing is that these rings were subject to the July 2004 recall of 150 million pieces of children's metal jewelry, but the manufacturer, Cardinal Distributing Co. Inc., of Baltimore, Md., placed the recalled rings that it had pulled from stores back into circulation. *cough* A-holes! *cough*

I've now seen enough of these recall bulletins to know two things for sure:

  1. Don't buy anything from a vending machine no matter how much your kids are melting down at Wal-Mart.
  2. See #1.

If your kids have these rings, please trash them, and contact the manufacturer if you really need that quarter back.
