Mother's Day Flowers: How Green Is Your Bouquet?

organic bouquetMother's Day is one of the floral industry's busiest days of the year, but before you "say it with flowers," consider where they are coming from, how they are picked, and how they are grown.

You watch where your food comes from and choose organic when possible. You don't keep harsh chemicals in your home. Now you can be as careful and choosy when it comes to your flowers.

Online florist Organic Bouquet offers up fine floral gifts sourced from growers that are committed to the highest social and environmental standards. Their flowers are grown and harvested using practices that strive to improve the quality of farm working conditions, minimize damage to ecosystems, conserve biodiversity, and enhance environmental quality for future generations.

Organic Bouquet flowers are as sustainably-grown as they are beautiful, which means you can feel good about sending them to the mom in your life.

OK say I order organic flowers here in AZ.  Where do they come from?  Do they send the order to just any old flower shop?  Or do we have organic flower shops here that I don't know about.

Also, they're donating like 10% of all orders to CARE or womantowoman.org -- so good cause and nice flowers!

Grammy leads me to a point:  where are these flowers grown?  If they're grown halfway around the world, imagine all the jet fuel spilled to get them to us, 6000 miles away.  That's leaving quite a large environmental footprint.  Someday I hope that everyone has local access to organically-grown everything, which will reduce all this wastage.  Maybe I should grow flowers myself in my yard?  And live next door to my mom?

Nah.
