Jennifer Garner Pitches TV Show For Moms (Insert Eyeroll Here)

Posted by Alisyn

Jennifer Garner is set to pitch a new TV show "for moms, by moms,"  to be hosted by Lauren Sanchez-Whitesell, the former host of So You Think You Can Dance (am I the only person who has no earthly idea who this woman is?).  According to Lauren, "It's really [Jennifer's] show and I'm the host... I call Jen the Barbara Walters of the show. She will come on periodically. We haven't quite settled exactly [how often], but she's the executive producer."

What can we expect from the twosome, should the show make it onto the air?  "We'll talk about how to get your kids to sleep, or how do you choose the right school, or how to keep your marriage together after having kids... Jen might talk about how you keep a marriage together when you're in the spotlight with a child."

Perfect.  Parenting advice by and for the rich and famous.  This is exactly what we need!  As a mother, I feel that I have not received nearly enough child-rearing tips from women rich enough to hire nannies, and travel by private jet.  I'd be totally interested in knowing what the Beverly Hills-based mother of an 11-month-old (Lauren) has to say about navigating the California public school system.  I'd love to hear what Jen and Ben have to say about how to keep a marriage happy - with a whopping 2 years of experience, they are sure to be experts.

Call me cynical, but between The View and the Oxygen network, I think we've got more than enough crap "women's" programming.  Unless this new show is going to educate women about their childbirth options and "the mommy tax", or organize women to fight for the quality childcare that they and their children deserve, or enable women to lobby their senators for paid maternal and paternal leave, I have absolutely no interest in it.

Are you listening, Jen and Lauren?  Are you willing to pay attention, and devote air time, to what the average American mom needs and wants?  If so, we'll tune it.  If not... well, let's just say we won't be surprised.

I think she should stick to dressing up in sexy costumes and fighting crime.

She's pretty good at that.

Jennifer Garner hasn't gone back to work since she had her daughter Violet.  She's as much a stay at home mom as any non-celebrity that chooses to stay home.  Her celebrity status has nothing to do with her ability to be a great mom.

I think she seems like a great mom!  We shouldn't confuse her job (acting) with who she is as a person or a mother.

Totally! Rich people suck :P

I don't know how moms make it in the States. I'm from Montreal, Quebec where we get 1 year mat leave, 6 weeks paternity leave and 7$ a day daycare. Not to mention various child tax benefits every month. Somethings got to change!

Jennifer has always seemed really down to Earth, one of the most "normal" celebrity moms I've seen.  I'm willing to keep an open mind and at least give the show a chance.

I'm thinking they will have experts on the show, not just telling everyone what "they" do that is so special.

You guys need to find the line between being snarky and being just plain judgmental.

Cynical much?  Have you read anything about Jen since she's had her baby? She is still breastfeeding, and her daughter is over a year old. She might have advice on oh, I don't know, extended breastfeeding? Perhaps how to get the public to accept BFing as natural (and I formula feed!).

She said she loves being a mom because she 'has a little buddy' that is always with her. I am so sad that is article made its way onto Babble. I started reading Babble because it was so refreshing. Reading this amount of cattiness seems like the author is plain old jealous of someone richer than her. Boo hoo.

Sorry, I have to disagree. JG is one hot mama and I'll buy whatever she is selling. She is one celebrity that I keep up  with because I was pregnant at the same time, strange? maybe, but I like her..

On the one hand, celebrities who think they know everything = ugh.  On the other hand, parenting issues are sort of universal, aren't they?  Just because someone is rich and famous doesn't mean they've never had to deal with colic.  Or sleep issues.  Or feeding issues.  Or snot.  Or poop.  Yeah, Jennifer Garner might be able to afford a nanny and the best gear money can buy and whatnot, but I'll bet she gets barfed on just as much as the rest of us do.

I don't have any issue with Jennifer Garner, but the Lauren Sanchez was an awful host!  I wasn't surprised she was replaced on So You Think You Can Dance.  Her face has no emotion, too much surgery maybe?  Maybe a segment on caring for kids post-op?

I don't have a problem with JG either.  In fact, she may very well be a good mom.  Perhaps she has only a few more months experience than me, but she has the money and a face people know--which means the show could bring in much more interest than if I were to produce/host it.  Good for her.  If the show is great, wonderful.  If not, don't watch.

I'd watch it.  At least once.  And since I'm a stay-at-home mom, I would probably turn it off if she starts talking about federally mandated child care and the like, not because I'm against it, but because it doesn't pertain to me.  Isn't that why we watch something, because of our interest in the subject presented???

I'm a sucker for J. Gar. If this show gets picked up, I'll watch on the days that she's on.

HELLLLOOO... on the same page of this snotty article is an ad for Fred Segal kids and "custom kids bedding." Get a grip! If we aren't just as freakin' priviledged?!? Just because we don't have private jets and 24/7 nannies doesn't mean we have it harder/easier. Should a single, working mama snicker at advice she gets from her upper crust neighbor?? I'm going to wait to pass judgment on the show until I see it but I'll but regarding who has it harder than who... it's all relative and being a mommy is being a mommy... we're all in it together.

So quickly we forget. It wasn't even a week ago that the sun set on Mother's Day -- meaning the trash is piling up again, the Diaper Genie is feeling ignored and about to just change itself and don't even get me started on foot rubbing. You
