The Hot Mom's Club. Are You a Member?

I found out today that there exists online a Hot Mom's Club. And I was surprised - stunned, really - that I haven't been invited yet to be the executive committee. What? Stop laughing. Could it be that yogurt-stained yoga pants and grown-out roots have cancelled out my chance of being a card-carrying member?

The Hot Mom's Club was born out of the Hot Mom's Handbook: Moms Have More Fun!, written by mommy-mistaken-for-nonmommy-hottie Jessica Delaney. Delaney set out to challenge the stereotype of what moms look like and to empower moms of all sizes, shapes and looks to feel hot and confident. What's interesting to me is that every single one of the moms pictured on the site is an uber-attractive, TV-ready mommy. Sure, these are headshots, but the Hot Moms' point about acceptance is cool but not exactly proven here.

Of course, I sped over to the must-have Celebrity Moms section featuring the regular cast of Kelly Preston, Cindy Margolis, Brooke Burns and Sharon Stone, as well as Meredith Brooks (who might be the poster mommy for hotness but, as this once-waitress just trying to put herself through grad school knows, will never be the poster customer for good tipping) and Kathy Lee Gifford (who, let's all hold hands and hope, was put there to fill the Over 50 space).  While I shuddered a little at one of the mantras of putting the "'me' back in mommy" (oh yes, they did say it), I love the self and style makeover mission of the club. And I love mommy mobilizing. I'd just love to see it all put into motion with a few less flat bellies and highlights and more diverse mamas who exude their own brand of hotness represented.

The "me" in mommy... hmmm, where have I heard that one before... <a href="http://www.lisawhelchel.com/TakingCareoftheMeinMommy/index.htm">oh, yeah!</a>

I guess Blair is a "hot mom".

Well I guess I just found out your comment system doesn't allow HTML! Sorry about that.

I find the whole "how to be a hot mom" idea really annoying. It presupposes that all moms are frumpy and lifeless and need some "expert" to tell them that it's a good  to wear something other than sweats. There's something very retro about this idea  - and not in a good way. It's like "fix yourself up nice for your man before he comes home and has his first martini." Blech.

I agree with nippleconfusion.  I wasn't "hot" before I became a Mama, so why should I try to be now?  Can't I just be me?  My own dorky tomboy fuckitall self?

To me, this sort of thing smacks of the same kind of pressure put on parents to be The Best Parents EVAH!  Why not just let everyone relax and be cool the way they are?

Pinkpinkmoon, Do we get to sing camp songs in that club? Because if we do, I am so in.
