Hillary Clinton Pushes Universal Pre-K Program

Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton is proposing a $10 billion federal program to offer voluntary pre-kindergarten for all American 4 year olds.  You have to hand it to Senator Clinton.  She rallies behind causes that many others wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

Senator Clinton proposes to pay for the program by closing various tax loopholes and "by cutting 500,000 of the private contractors the Bush administration has had..."  Imagine choosing 4-year olds over your Haliburton flunkies! The horror!

Head Start has served low-income children and their families with early childhood education, nutrition, and parenting support since 1965. Senator Clinton's proposed program would build on the promise of Head Start.

I'm not a Hillary Fan, but woman, this is a great idea. Where were you in '04? My daughter is missing her opportunity to start school this year because she turns 5 in October. Well, I guess I have the twins starting school to think about, since they're going to be in October, too. If they're half a smart as Peyton is, they'll be ready to start school in approximately three years from now.
