Baby Hatahs Unite!

Things to never, ever to say in life: People with kids deserve special treatment. Or at least, you know, common courtesy.

The Poop blog has a wonderful back-and-forth between people with kids and the people who hate them. The roughly 100 comments focus on everything from stupid parents, stupid haters, overpopulation and peeing on buildings. It keeps getting better and better, and may, eventually, become one of the few parenting discussions to invoke Godwin's Law.

Are babies that bad? Or is it just the parents?

I didn't read all the comments, but from what I read, no one really addressed the issue of what a "baby hater" is.  They are the people who not only dislike kids, but want them to never ever be in public, even if they are behaving or in a completely child appropriate place.  They are the people who sit next to the play area at McDonalds and then complain about the noise.  They are the people who roll their eyes and sigh when they see an infant, even if the infant is sleeping soundly.

I get that some people don't like kids and that some people have no intention of having any of their own.  And I get that there are rude people with kids who feel entitled and rude people without kids that feel entitled.

But I'm tired of some people acting like *every* parent out their has that entitled air to them.  Some of us do admit that are children are not perfect, we are not perfect as parents, and we're just doing our best.

Children are not supposed to be perfect.  They are supposed to be kids.  Parents are the ones who teach them the things they should know.  I LOVE children.  Especially grand children.  People who say they hate or don't like kids are missing out on the best experience in life.  If you can let the kids live through their teenage years, and then wait until they are married with kids, it is worth it all.

I'm a Poop reader, and now I'm tempted to make sure that Godin's Rule is invoked.

Must. Resist.
