Oh Crud, Now Where Did I Leave That Baby?

baby alert

Maybe you get hit with that sinking feeling you forgot something. Car keys: check. Sunglasses: check. Wallet: check. Baby...Uh oh. Never fear. Now you can get your hands on the Child Minder System, which sounds a keychain alarm every time you move more than ten feet away from your kid's car seat. It attaches to the little buckle on the child restraint system, so you don't end up leaving Junior in the car for hours while you play Bingo or something. You know, I'm sure it happens ALL THE TIME.

I'm scoffing a little here, but maybe there's some good responsible citizens out there who have had this problem. There's certainly a lot of schmucks that have. Now, if you forget your keys and your baby in the car...well, we can't help you there.

You Babble people get so flippant about the strangest things. Leaving kids in a sweltering car is tragic, not funny.

Unfortunately & tragically it happened recently here in the Bay Area...the dad was overworked & changed his schedule from dropping off his baby son first & then dropping off his daughters 2nd for soccer first, he had to switch it around dropping the daughters off first & then the baby at childcare...he even told the childcare people the DAY BEFORE this tragedy happened that he would do so...

Read the story below in the link & yes, very much weep...and if anything, it's a story of just stopping in our hustle & bustle world to remember what's REALLY, REALLY precious & important...

Take care all & be kind to each other ...

El Momma in the NorCal Area...

No, it's not funny. But I distinctly remember one day shortly after #2 was born, I would be waiting to pick up my older one at preschool. Some other parents came up to me in the car and asked, "Where's the baby?" and for a few seconds I FREAKED because I honestly couldn't remember... even though he was asleep, right behind me in his car seat. The Child Minder System would not have helped me out in this case.

To be honest, I was intending to mock the alarm system, NOT kids dying in cars (the thought of that makes me sad and ill) because I couldn't imagine that this happens to responsible parents often enough to warrant a safety device. But I read that SF Gate story and yikes. I'm happy to take back the mocking, and I'll do a follow up post as well.
