I was too distraught to write last week. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I was just. too. sad. The SD lost a host of great writers. First it was CityMama. Then Sarah. Patti . Chag . Melissa .
I loathe tv shows that use the “fake friends” premise to draw in viewers. They are the buddies created by the marketers for the lonely hosewife who controls the household budget. There are a lot of those shows. New moms sitting around coffee shops rapping about diapers and nursing. I would rather have a root canal than watch one of these shows. I have only watched them by accident at the dentist, doctors or a friends home. If this is truely the only forums for women to be heard PLEASE someone save us from the mediocrity!
I was feeling all dumped on because MomsRising.org keeps sending me email about how mothers are 79% less likely to be hired than others with equal resumes.
But now, thanks to Sheri “I can’t use reason because I have a child to think about instead,” I see some merit to these discriminatory hiring practices. Makes sense to me!
I watch the View almost daily and think it’s pretty entertaining. It is one of the few mediums where women actually run the show. The day after Sheri Shephard’s “earth is flat” remarks she came on the air and made fun of herself because she said her entire mind just shut down and she, like all of us, had one of those moments where we become separate from the words that are coming out of our mouths. While I don’t agree with her religious beliefs or Hasselbeck’s political views (or religious beliefs), I appreciate the platform offered by The View to these women to express themselves…or have huge brain farts on national television…
oh that was beyond cringe inducing. I heard the clip on the radio. Daytime tv is in a sad state. The generation before me had soap operas and game shows and that was about it. When I was growing up, there was Donahue and he really paid his audience – predominantly mothers – respect. His segments featured politics (not just the occasional fairweather endorsement *cough*Oprah*cough*), and he really challenged his viewers to think. 20 years later, we’ve taken a few quantum leaps backwards. Sad.
That woman? Is an IDIOT. And not just for the reasons you mentioned. I have seen the View exactly twice and loathe it–however, it was on once while I was getting a manicure and once just this week at the OB’s office. That woman was on both times, and there is nothing thhat comes out of her mouth that is not stupid. When you make Hasselbeck look smart, you are offcially dumber than a box of hair.

Aren’t there like 16 million other people who might do just a bit more of an intelligent job on that show? I mean, seriously.
Get a real person on the show.
No, I like it! This is exactly what I need.

Horrific. Makes me want to jump off the edge of the flat earth.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck must be THRILLED to have someone on the show who actually makes her look smart. Way to go, Sheri!
