But Can He Spell Troglodyte?

Posted by Adrienne Martini

Is a toddler just a caveman at heart? In Dr. Harvey Karp's opinion every toddler is just a club-wielding, grunting troglodyte.

Dr. Karp is best known for his Happiest Baby on the Block books and DVDs. Now he's turning his eye to the knee-biters. At heart, Karp contends, a toddler is "primitive, an emotion-driven, instinctive creature who need to be spoken to in short sentences." And, incidentally, are just barely Homo sapiens.

What do you think? Are toddlers barely human?

I was skeptical but after reading Happiest Toddler on the Block and trying it a few times I'm sold! My 3yr old rarely has meltdowns I can't stop now.
