I was just thinking, Purim and Easter fall on the same weekend this year and I have yet to see a single post about hamantaschen or anything else related to Judaism.  I teach in a Jewish day school, and my twelve-year-old students (who are by no means religiously observant) have no idea what Peeps are.  Yet another reminder of how dominant Christianity (cultural or otherwise) is in this country.

Please excuse my random thoughts.

Laura in LA, I frankly fail to see what a puffed marshmellow desert covered in sugar has to do with Jesus rising from the dead.

Michael, I agree.  Obviously the bunnies, chicks, and eggs are related to the pre-Christian pagans of Europe.  But the Roman Catholic church co-opted them, and now they're part of our traditional Easter celebration.  My students are even more confused by this.  ; )
