Other than Borat's little ditty about throwing, ahem, certain people down a well, anyone falling down a well is not funny. So it's nice to report that a 2-year-old girl in New Delhi who fell down a well while playing has been rescued.
The girl's name is Vandana, and she kept asking for "fruit and sweets," which they sent to her by rope.
This little detail is interesting: The mother was "kept away from the well because...rescuers feared she
would become emotional and upset the child, but her father was
constantly talking to her to keep her conscious." This implies that the child wasn't upset, which for a 2 year old is pretty impressive.
Also interesting is that this is the sixth time in two years a little one was pulled out of a well in India; the last time was January 30.
Anyone remember Baby Jessica? She's 21 now, and last year she received over $1 million in donations sent while she was trapped.
Video of the rescue is on CNN.com. Pretty dramatic.
