Madonna will no longer study the Kabbalah,
something she has done for over a decade. The reason? Bat Mitzvahs are
expensive.
According to people close to her, Madonna was horrified by the 2007
case of David Brooks, who reportedly spent $10 million dollars
on his daughter's Bat Mitzvah. "If he spent that much, I won't be able
to get away with anything less than $5 million… if we're lucky," the
Material Mom told a friend. Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Ciccone, will turn 12 years old in October, meaning that her Bat Mitzvah could have occurred this year.
Madonna has been very involved with the Los Angeles-based Kabbalah
Centre, and quoted the Talmud at her recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Her
husband Guy Ritchie has stated in the past that the family no longer exchanges gifts on Christmas.
