One of my favorite 4th grade art projects was making silhouettes. Our teacher sat us in front of a filmstrip projector and traced our heads onto black paper. When we cut them out, I was amazed. Yes, I am simple. It's a gift.
I've wanted to make silhouettes of my kids' noggins but couldn't figure out how to get them to sit still long enough to trace out their profiles. Like I said, I'm simple. Turns out, there is a much, much easier way.
A tutorial is here, courtesy Design*Sponge and threepotatofour. Now if I can get them done before Mother's Day, I know what the grandmas will be getting. And if I don't get them done, I know what they'll get for Christmas.
