So. Was it Good for You?

Mother's Day is nearly over.  Thank God!! Partners and their baby mamas everywhere are breathing a collective sigh of relief, children are high on the sugar from the early morning pancakes, phone calls have been made (it's not too late!!).

So.  How was yours?

After all the Mother's Day sniping and reconsideration, our house was harmonious today.  Breakfast in bed, pretty earrings, and blue nail polish.  Sweet cards and helpful husbands.

It may be cliche and predictable, humdrum, and bourgeois, but it was grand.

up at the crack of dawn with kids and a hang over from two beers at an art

opening the night before ( so not fair ) while husband slept in... what???

made my own coffee, changed dirty diaps, and pulled us all together for

brunch at my mother's... nice! mimosas flowing... i hit the jackpot w/ a vintage

hand embroidered pillow, antique hubley doorstop and the best of all...

my 5 yr old daughter's hand print in baked glazed dough... seriously i have been waiting for this kind of stuff for 5 years... much cherished! so i guess it's

o.k. that i didn't get a diaper free day.

I heard from 14 out of 14 children, who all wished me well and gave me either flowers or home made cards. It was the most excellent day. I talked to my own mom for an hour, too. I listened as she talked about how much she missed her own mom on this day.

Blech. Crappy gift from the husband, who didn't think to help the kids make anything. Cancelled party that I was only notified of after I dressed the kids up and put them in the car. Suckage.

Awesome First Mother's Day! Standup paddling lesson on a gorgeous oahu morning, turtles, fishes and coral. Wonderful breakfast from amazing hubby- who took every feeding and diaper duty all day. Hour and a half deep tissue massage - big smiles from my 11 week old baby and got to read the whole Sunday styles section from NYT

I saw Irma Thomas perform her annual Mother's Day concert in New Orleans. It doesn't get any better than that.
