There is serious trouble in the Brady household. First Cindy puked during a radio show. Then Marcia decided to open a bed-and-breakfast with Carnie Wilson and Bobby Brown. Now Peter is all kinds of pissed at Mom.
While promoting a Hallmark Channel movie during the Television Critics Association press tour, Florence Henderson noted that she disapproves of Christopher Knight's marriage to "Surreal Life" and, later, "My Fair Brady" co-star Adrianne Curry. "They didn't take my advice at all! And as you may have seen, they did
get engaged and they did get married," Henderson/Carol Brady said. "Maybe I will counsel
the divorce." Ouch.
As reported by People.com, Knight subsequently posted a letter on his MySpace page that says he is "deeply hurt" by Henderson's remarks. "Since I was a child I looked up to Florence as a consummate
professional and as a woman of unique class. I can only hope these
recent comments are an aberration or better yet, taken completely out
of context," he writes. Later, he adds: "I put forth the hope that one day both Adrianne and Florence, both of
whom have played an integral role in my life, will find a way to come
together in a peaceful and respectful way. In the mean time, the
sanctity of my marriage should not be called into question."
It's a fairly classy response, and one that does not touch on issues that, frankly, he very well could have broached. He didn't bother to mention, for example, that Carol and Mike Brady allowed a curse to befall the Brady boys during their trip to Hawaii, nearly causing Greg to drown and poor Peter to almost get bitten by a hideous tarantula. And don't even get me started on how they managed to lose both Bobby AND Cindy at the Grand Canyon. No wonder Cindy drinks too much.
The point is, we all make what others may perceive as mistakes. If Peter can forgive Carol for her errors, surely she can forgive him for marrying some woman he met on a reality show. Now let's kiss, make up, ensure that Cindy stops barfing and put this Brady Bunch back on track, dammit!
