Kitchenista: Beautiful Blueberries

Posted by Adrienne Martini

Summer food should be all about simplicity. Now is the time when things are fresh and abundant -- so fresh and abundant, in fact, that it can be a trick to get everything eaten or preserved before it becomes blue fuzzy goo in the fridge.

Summer food should also be about not turning on the oven, which is why I lurve this recipe from the almighty Mark Bittman.

Bittman's No-Bake Cheescake Bars would be yummy no matter what fruit (or, um, chocolate chip-type candy) you put on top. But with blueberries so sweet and cheap right now, it's hard to resist.

Bittman offers some extra mods on the bars here. I'll be going with blueberry, tho, if only because I have a bushel that's begging to be used before it turns into a primordial soup in the chill chest.

I expect proper spelling even in blog posts - I'll accept "lurve", but abhore "tho" - it's "though!" - and "begging to be used", not "begging ot be used"!  Oh! And "chocolate" not "choclate".  This is terrible.

Somehow, I managed to not spell check this one. Thanks for your eagle eyes. I'm leaving "lurve" and "tho," tho, simply because they amuse me. YMMV
