With Elisabeth Shue set to play -- acting stretch! -- Elisabeth Shue in "Hamlet 2," which comes out Friday, I recently got to thinking about "Adventures in Babysitting." (And by "got to thinking" I mean, you know, I thought more about "Adventures in Babysitting" than usual.) The entertaining, often overlooked '80s teen comedy starred Shue as a babysitter who takes her three charges on a series of wacky adventures in Chicago. Of the three young'uns Shue watched, one of them remains well-known: Anthony Rapp starred in Broadway's "Rent" and "Dazed and Confused."
Maia Brewton, who played the Thor-obsessed Sara, later popped up in "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" and, 10 years ago, graduated from Yale. But what happened to Keith Coogan, whose character harbored a crush on Shue's Chris?
During the '80s and '90s, the grandson of child star Jackie Coogan worked steadily, appearing in numerous TV shows -- from "Fame" to "Growing Pains" to "21 Jump Street" -- and movies like "Toy Soldiers" and "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead." (What's with the recurring babysitter theme?)
Coogan has continued to pursue acting, getting gigs a few years ago on "Joan of Arcadia" and "Married to the Kellys." These days he continues to call himself an actor, writer and director. He also blogs regularly over at Adventures in Los Angeles, if you want to check in and see what he's up to.
Apparently, the "Babysitting" kid is a fan of "Lost," which scores him some major points in my book. Maybe he could get a guest spot on the show? At bare minimum, maybe as one of those random crash survivors who never says anything? Anyway, we wish him the best of luck. And here's what Keith is looking like these days.

Rich or Rehab appears every Tuesday on Strollerderby.
