Political Nanny: Obama Offended by Implied Link to Palin Family Rumors

Posted by Madeline Holler

Obama is offended that he and his campaign have been tied to the rumors that Alaska Governor/GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin faked a pregnancy.

Reuters reported this weekend that an unnamed McCain advisor, while admonishing "liberal blogs" for writing about the alleged cover-up, said Barack Obama's name could be attached to some of the rumors.

Not at all, according to the Democratic nominee himself.

From Time, The Page

I am offended by that statement, there is no evidence at all that any of this involved us. I hope I am as clear as I can be. So in case I am not, let me repeat, we don’t go after people’s families, we don’t get them involved in the politics, it is not appropriate and it is not relevant. Our people were not involved in any way in this and they will not be. And if I ever thought it was somebody in the campaign that was involved in something like that they would be fired. Ok. Alright guys. Thank you.

Pictured above is Sarah Palin this spring with baby Trig in the sling. She had just signed a bill into Alaska state law.

Has anyone commented that this is a plotline from "Desperate Housewives"? I think it was last season, or maybe two seasons ago.

I am more freaked out that Mrs. Palin is a member of two groups who want Alaska to break from the Union but now she wants to represent that same Union?  I'm confused, I thought only Patriots were asked to represent the United States of America.  She is a Dominionist church member, they believe that the current government and laws need to be replaced with a Christian Theocracy and head of State should be an ordained Christian minister.  Here is a link about the other group she belongs to that wants Alaska to go it alone.

There is a lot more about this Fundie nut than a daughter who rebels by screwing without condoms.  This pregnancy story is a smoke screen so no one will notice the big problems with this sociopath.  Watch out everyone, already there have been cries of "That is offensive to wmen" when she is critcised. Hey, she does not speak for this woman!

I'm glad Obama addressed this.  I like and respect him, even though I haven't decided who to vote for yet.  I have been pretty disgusted by the blogs (including this one) who have done all this speculation about baby Trig or made snarky comments about their family (really, is it necessary to make fun of their names?!?).  I am independent who was leaning Obama before all this happened, but all these comments have made me not want to be associated with such meanness.  It would be a lot easier to embrace the candidates sometimes if they didn't come with their constituency.  Of course, this also goes with both parties.

I find it amazing that after all of the negativity thrown at Obama, he is still able to stand firm in his belief that candidates' families are off limits.  I'd already decided to cast my vote for him based on his policies, but this further solidifies that at least he is a man of integrity - something I don't think Washington has seen in far too long!

That is such an unfair accusation. I live in Anchorage, AK and I can say with 100% certainty that that rumor was around back when Sarah Palin first announced her pregnancy. I personally heard it back in February. I don't think the rumor is true, but a rumor doesn't have to be true to spread like wildfire up here. Our winters are long and dark and cold, and people have nothing better to do than gossip.

Not that it matters but the original rumor that I heard was that Bristol and Sarah were both pregnant, and expecting around the same time (I think this was sparked by Bristol leaving school). When no announcement was made, regarding Bristol, the rumor changed to that of Sarah faking her pregnancy to cover for her daughter.

Esther,

Maybe all you do on your long and dark and cold nights is gossip. Others obviously find more productive things to do.
