There are three things I wish. One - That I lived in New Jersey. Two - That I was Catholic. Three - That I was young enough for Sunday school. Why, oh why, would a non-denominational, thirty-something Californian wish such things? So Stephen Colbert could be my Sunday school teacher. This comedy central superstar, and father of three, is a devout Catholic. A recent interview sited one of his hobbies as teaching Sunday school. Although he currently isn’t teaching (winning an Emmy and a Peabody and penning a best seller will keep a man busy), he hopes to return to educating the youth about his pal Jesus sometime next year.
“The great thing about teaching Sunday school is that these kids ask questions that even in college we thought were so deep," he said. Examples: What's beyond time? What came before God? Then again, he said, sometimes they're just asking to go to the bathroom. "And I say no."”
