This morning on Meet the Press, Colin Powell officially endorsed Barack Obama for president. Noting first McCain's lack of certainty about how to handle the financial crisis, McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as a running mate and the divisive nature of the republican side of the campaign, Powell then turned to explaining how he felt that Barack Obama had an inspiring, inclusive style and "rigorous intellectual" substance.
I was glad to hear Powell discuss the problem of "Muslim" as a dirty word as well. "Do we want a seven year-old American Muslim child to think he or she can't grow up and become president?" Powell asked.
