Marian Robinson, Michelle Obama's mom and grandmother to Malia and Sasha (also Barack's mother-in-law) is weighing whether or not to move to the White House full time.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the 71-year-old Marian has said that the White House reminds her of "a museum...How do you sleep in a museum?"
It's a funny thing to think about, but I kind of agree. Because there have been more articles about the Obamas as a family than I can recall for other Presidents-elect, it becomes easier to think about what it would be like to live in the White House. Not so much winning the election. But the day-to-day dealing with stuff. Like, what do you do with your laundry? That sort of thing.
Anyway, Michelle is reportedly "begging" her mom to come and live with them. Marian was a very important part of the Obama campaign – she took care of the girls while the now First Couple traveled across the country. Michelle was reportedly much more comfortable campaigning knowing that her mom would be watching over her daughters.
As for whether or not the self-described First Granny will make the big move, it's unclear. Access Hollywood (you know, the best source for political news) said that she wouldn't, but it sounds like Mrs. Robinson is still undecided. She likes her house in Chicago a lot, and there's that whole museum, can't-sit-wherever-you-want thing. What seems clear is that she will certainly spend a lot of time in D.C. to be near Sasha and Malia, whether she makes her "home" there or not.
No word from the President-elect on what he thinks of the idea. But I'm sure he wouldn't mind. I'm also sure he wouldn't tell us if he did. He didn't win this election by acting stupid.
