Jon Stewart Slam Dunks the Argument for Gay Marriage

There are few things more satisfying than watching someone make a clear ethical and logical argument for something you believe in, particularly when that argument is being broadcast to living rooms around America--and is being made to Mike Huckabee.

Just one of the many reasons this video made me love Jon Stewart even more than I thought possible: "I would argue," he says, "that a loving gay family with a financially secure background beats the hell out of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline anyday." That is really just the tip of the iceberg of his eloquence.

Yes, this was wonderful - GO JON!

Huckabee scares me.  He is well spoken, has a good sense of humor, and is a theocratic nutjob.  If he ever won the Republican nomination, how many low information voters would support him just because he's so darn nice and can poke fun at himself?  May he never run for president again.  HORRORS.

The whole interview is really good.  You can watch episodes online at thedailyshow.com .  I can't stay up that late anymore and the rebroadcast the next day is right at bedtime for kiddos.  I lurve the internets.

I got giddy watching it. It felt like he was making an airtight case that really no one could argue with - although Huckabee was trying. It really made him look bigoted...

It was awesome!  Jon cut down Huckabee's arguments one by one.  My favorite was when Huckabee said that marriage has been a man and a woman for 5000 years and used the bible as his reference....Jon said that in those days polygamy was the norm so that marriage has in fact evolved quite a bit.

It is unfortunate that Huckabee is representing conservatism. You cannot defend personal liberty while picking and choosing which contracts between two individuals you will accept or reject based on religion. If you want to be consistent, you have to get government out of monitoring personal contracts. To paraphrase Ron Paul. I don't care if two people want to call themselves married, as long as I don't have to.

I just read an editorial written by a conservative complaining that too many kids are being raised by unmarried, single mothers. Well, here is a bunch of unmarried parents who WANT to marry. Seems like conservatives are Anti-Family to me.
