KB Toys Going Out of Business

Posted by SunnyChanel

I have some good news and some bad news.  First the bad news. Toy superstore KB Toys has filed for bankruptcy today and will be laying off all their 4,400 full-time workers and more than 6,500 seasonal workers.  What could possibly be the good news in that? Well they’re having a going out of business sale!  Yes, I am making light of the sad news of the lay offs, but when you have a big bag of lemons, might as well make some tasty discounted lemonade.

KB toys will be closing 277 of the mall stores, 40 of their Toy Works stores and 114 outlet stores and it will also be selling it’s wholesale business that provides toys and games to retailers like CVS Pharmacy and QVC.

Their going-out of business sales will begin immediately.

be careful of going out of business sales. they often raise the prices before they then put them on sale, so it is never as good as the 50% tag might suggest.

Rushed to Kaybee Toys in NJ this am and no advertised going out of business sales yet.  They really weren't even having any regular good sales!

I agree it's very sad for the employees and the general economy, but I won't miss KB's horrible selection of crappy toys, marketed with the most rigid gender division I've ever seen. Has anyone ever seen a wooden toy there, or a non-licensed character? I hate it that for a lot of poor kids these toy stores are the only kind they ever see.
