Stop Sending Palin Baby Presents

By | December 25th, 2008 at 8:03 am

So the economy’s in the crapper, and parents are cutting back on
everything from Santa to travel. So why are gifts pouring into the
Palin household?

The former (so happy to say that) vice
presidential candidate’s father, Chuck Heath, told Grandparents.com
that gifts for granddaughter Bristol Palin’s soon-to-be born baby boy
have been piling up from around the world. Really, this is what people
are spending their money on?

In case none of you remember, the Palin family isn’t exactly
hurting
. Mom just got offered a raise by one of the commissions she
helped appoint (OK, OK, she turned it down – but who is actually
getting offers for EXTRA money in their paycheck this year?). Then
there are all those RNC shopping spree clothes (including that Ramones
tee for a tot
).

Bristol Palin does not need our charity. But at last count, Chuck
Heath says there are one hundred thousand gifts waiting for baby boy
Johnston. Yes, you read that right – one hundred thousand.

He admits she’ll probably never use them all (ya think?), but
I’ve yet to hear any offers to give these things away to a pregnancy
center or maybe make some Christmases brighter around Alaska.

We get it, some people actually liked Sarah Palin. If you really
want to pay tribute to her, how about donating some gifts in her name
to someone who could actually use them?

Ooh, I know, how about one of those centers for pregnant teens she cut funding from? Just a suggestion.

Wow, you’ve got some bug up your butt. I have no doubt that celeb babies from all political walks of life are sent gifts from adoring fans. I simply couldn’t care less. First off, the “economy” isn’t as bad as the media would like us to believe, but even if it was, who says that she’s being sent posh baby gifts? Could be they have an onslaught of $2.88 Walmart onesies stacked up.

I have to agree with Donald T this article sounds like the Left Winged Media not letting the Palin’s live their lives without The Media chiming in.

It is okay thought Media Left. I am your Media Elected President will have plenty of gifts for all of us.

I personally will be waiting for my gift, my tax cut he promised.

The article sounds like someone needlessly bashing the governors grandchild from getting gifts. I’m sure a lot of people in the public eye get gifts for new borns. I’m sure there are plenty of democtats that are getting gifts for new born babies that can afford to buy them to. The article was totally uncalled for. Go complain about something that matters.

For what it’s worth, I’m a life long Democrat and was as critical as I could be of Eliot Spitzer and John Edwards when they had their failings. And if this were a political blog you’d get to hear how I feel about Rod Sell-a-Senate-Seat-avich. The Palin’s political leanings are irrelevant here – it’s the gifts. If there’s a story about people sending gifts to Bronx Mowgli, we’ll write probably that up too.

Stefanie, Sue, Danielle, et al – did you not notice my suggestion that people donate to charity IN the Palin name? Point being – let’s spread some holiday cheer to people who could really use it, and hey, it could actually shed a GOOD light on Sarah Palin, Bristol Palin, etc.

And, no, I don’t think sending gifts to celebrity kids or Democrats’ kids is any better – but then, I haven’t heard the Obama grandparents bragging that they have 100,000 piled in the house (rather than already given away to charity). So call me a lefty (which I admitted to), but to call me mean and hateful for suggesting people give to charity? That’s just the kind of meanness that makes for good holiday joy in my book!

Im sure the author of this article wouldnt be so negative and so mean if the Palin’s had been democrats. This article is right out mean and like someone else said I’m sure that there will be donations. Futhermore, why bash the Palins for getting gifts, its not like they can control people sending them gifts.

Congratulations to the Palin family on their new bundle of joy!

You sounded full of jealousy, bitterness, and hatred. What a pity!

Leave some room in your heart for love. I promise, it would make you and those around you feel better.

    Happy Holidays!

This story is leaning so far to the left it’s tipping. Give me a break. Whatever Republican’s do is wrong in the liberal eye. Can’t win. Congratulations to the Palin family on the birth of Tripp. I’m sure there will be donations from all these gifts.

Lol Jeanne, and then try explaining to people that your kid fits into 24 months but the 2T is too big.

  10. JeanneSager says:

SamEsmomma: Just wait until you get to try to figure out the difference between 24 months and 2T! And I thought women’s jeans sizes were bad!

  11. Anonymous says:

maybe they dont want all that stuff cuz theres not really a baby. haha j/k…sort of.

  12. SamEsmomma says:

My baby is 2 weeks old and he’s too small for most of his clothes (his momma didn’t realize there was a diff. between sizes 0-3 months and newborn– isn’t a newborn 0-3 months?) Palins- send some of those clothes our way!!!

  13. Knitty says:

These people are whacked. Don’t they know there are millions of babies and young children in this country with barely enough to eat? Send the gifts to Toys for Tots or spend the money on your local shelter. Haven’t the Palins fleeced their supporters for enough already?

Many, many celebs who are far richer get tons of gifts and freebies all the time, not only for their kids, but also for themselves as well. Why don’t I see you asking that they not be given things they can easily afford?
