What started as a simple children’s tale by A.A. Milne in 1926 is now a huge money generating franchise for the Walt Disney Group. This lovable honey hued bear and his pals rake in a reported sum of about 1 billion dollars a year. With this kind of money making icon, it’s seems totally natural, and actually a little slow in the makin’, that a new Winnie-the-Pooh book will be published.
The brand new adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh will be released in a volume entitled Return to the Hundred Acre Wood and it is the very first authorized sequel to the originals by Milne. The book will come out on October 5th and will be published by Penguin Book here in the states. Since A.A. Milne has long ago departed our mortal realm, the new wordsmith assigned to Pooh-dom is the playwright David Benedictus and it will be illustrated by the British artist Mark Burgess.
Let’s just hope they don’t modernize Pooh too much, the last thing I’d want to see if Pooh getting on his cell phone.
