Octuplet Mom Wants TV Career

Posted by Brett Singer

Nadya Suleman wants to be on TV. Heck, she had 8 kids at once. So that makes her qualified to do... what? The amazing thing about "Octuplet Mom" Nadya Suleman is not that she wants to be on television. It's that she has OFFERED her services to Oprah and Diane Sawyer. As ParentDish puts it, "the opportunity to tap her parental wisdom."

What could she possibly have to offer? How to have an irresponsible number of children via IVF? How to get your parents to raise the kids for you while you stay in school? She's 33 years old and still a "full-time student." Her own mother thinks that she is "obsessed with babies."

UPDATE: Watch Nadya Suleman's publicist get interviewed by Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America.

It's all bad. I'm not saying that all mothers have to be married. But how is it responsible to go to a fertility clinic to have more children when you already have six that you can't support? And then spend time trying to get famous?

(Aside: the word "octuplets" doesn't appear in my spell check dictionary. Just saying.)

Ugh. I'm sorry to get all high handed but just… ugh.

Another big "hip-hip-hooray!" for the wonders of capitalism.  She was incredibly irresponsible, used student loan money to get the IVF (also called FRAUD), dumped the medical bills on the taxpayers and the care of her other children on her parents and now she's being offered book deals, TV shows, and movie deals.

It's quite a system, isn't it?

Knitty: If she did use her student loan money to get IVF then her butt needs to be thrown in jail for FRAUD!

She is disgusting, selfish and CPS should take her away kids for her lack of common sense and stupidity alone! I live in California (although, I'm glad I am not in Los Angeles County) and the California taxpayers will be footing the bill and she'll be on welfare soon enough.

I feel horrible for those kids. Who goes out and gets IVF when they already had 6 kids at home? She couldn't even support the 6 kids she already had? Wait, HER parents were supporting them, not her!

California has an almost 10% unemployment rate right now (not to mention our budget still hasn't passed) and people are struggling financially right now. However, this woman is going to be offered millions of dollars to be an insta-celebrity while tax payers pay her bills. Disgusting!

Stupid woman.  There is no way she can handle an austitic child, 5 small children under 7 and 8 fargile, underweight newborns alone.  Her mom has already said she wont help her.  I say we throw her ass in jail for fraud for using her student loan to pay for IVF, get her the psychological treatment she needs while there, and place those children with families who can properly care for them.  Sometimes a woman who had a baby is just a birth mother.  A parent cares for and provides for their children.  She is no parent.

I don't agree with what she's done.  And if the student loan thing is true, then I hope she gets whatever punishment she has coming to her.  I feel for her children.  Their mother is disturbed.  And looks at them as cash cows.

That being said, I don't want to have to defend my religion, Treespeed.  I believe in God, and you don't--nuff said.

My point is that we have reproductive freedom in this country.  And it goes both ways.....abortion or having and keeping babies.  She made a choice.  She saw the opportunity and she went for it.

This is a troubled woman.  She needs help.  Her children will really need help, especially when they are removed from her care.

I feel bad about the entire situation, but this one woman does not define infertility, doctors who help treat people with fertility issues or the need for or lack of regulation in this field.

What about the doctor who performed the IVF? There are medical guidelines that this dummy did not follow. And isn't there a psychological/ social assessment prior to the medical procedure?

Very sad all the way around.

Nadya Suleman has been a systematic abuser of tax dollars.  She is collecting workers comp because she "claims" constant back pain kept her in bed and unable to work.  She rely's on food stamps to feed her kids, but can afford acrylic nails and a nanny service.  She "qualifies" for Medi-cal but has an extra $100,000 saved for IVF.  Three kids collect SSI (soon to be more kids) - and one "disability" is a two-year-old with a speech delay!    Now the family is getting very, very large amounts of money each time they interview.  Taxpayers are being billed millions for the octuplets medical expenses. Email the government and request they investigate Ms. Suleman's abuse of public assistance programs.  Now that she's "cashing in" on her free ride on the backs of taxpayers, it's time for her to pay her own bills.      Email:  STOPMEDICALFRUAD@DHCS.CA.GOV  and   FRAUDHOTLINE@DSS.CA.GOV
