Kittens Have Their Say (Aided by Nutty Six-Year-Old)
Favorite YouTube video of the day, the week, the year maybe: a very animated, somewhat coocoo six-year-old girl narrates her favorite photos from an old book about kittens. She titles her talk “Kittens! Inspired by kittens!” and it goes on the same nutty vein as she voices what those kittens are surely thinking: “I have to go pee!”, “We are wine bottles!” (for a goofy 70s-era picture of three kittens inside a rattan wine rack), and various assorted demented screams.
The entire thing reminds me so vividly of what it was like to be six years old, living in your own head, inspired by photos of animals and the certainty that you (and only you!) knew what they were thinking. When people go on and on about the magic of childhood, what they sometimes fail to mention is how wonderfully weird it all is — a thing this video captures perfectly. I wonder what this kid will be like in 30 years?

This is the most awesome thing I’ve seen in a while. And strangely, the narrative reminds me of how my mother-in-law talks.
