The hot ticket at New York Fashion Week? It wasn’t the Badgley Mischka, Narcisco Rodriguez or Zac Posen show. No, it was the exclusive Barbie fashion show held at the main tent at Bryant Park on Saturday.
The epic production included fifty-one high end designers such as Donna Karen, Diane Von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson along with smaller fashion houses like Marchesa and Rag and Bones.
The show began with a projected bio of the life and time of Barbie. Then the first model hit the runway wearing an outfit inspired by the swimsuit featured on the first Barbie ever released.
Along with the oodles of press and fashion buyers, in attendance were “by several hundred New York mothers and their young daughters who greeted each model's appearance with screams of delight.”
They were all there to celebrate Barbie’s 50th birthday. She’s aged pretty well. How she kept that waistline in beyond me.
