Gloria Allred Offers To Help OctoMom

Posted by Brett Singer

Gloria Allred wants to help out the OctoMom, and any other moms in trouble who get lots of media attentionRemember Gloria Allred? No? Lucky you.

She's an attorney with a knack for representing clients involved with high-profile cases, such as Amber Frey (Scott Peterson), and the family of Nicole Brown Simpson (O.J.). She also made headlines when she took the controversial stance of questioning Michael Jackson's parenting skills. (That was sarcasm.) She actually went so far as to request that California Child Protective Services investigate how he treats his kids. (That, unfortunately, is true.)

Well, the media-loving lawyer is back and she wants to help out OctoMom Nadya Suleman's kids. MomLogic reports that Allred has a "plan to 'provide for the medical and emotional needs'" of all 14 members of her brood.

Through the charity Angels In Waiting, Allred says that the family can receive the help that they need without relying on public funds, although they will need private donations.

While it's obvious that Allred is a publicity hound (there are other, less polite words one could use, of course), Angels In Waiting seems to be a worthy organization. (Note: I haven't done a lot of research into the group, just a cursory skimming of their web site.) So in theory there is a positive outcome from Allred's actions. Still, why not be a champion for children all the time? Why does it only matter when there's a camera around? The OctoMom story is fascinating, but it's also very sad. The last thing those kids need is someone else trying to get famous off of them.

What do you think – is Allred legit? Or should she, you know, quit? (Apologies for the extremely dated reference.)

U can't touch this story without also mentioning Paula Jones.

And the image that "octomom" conveys is rather accurate. I keep thinking about an octopus with bottles in four tentacles, and diapers in the other four.

The bottles, of course, contain breast milk donated from Breastfeeding Nazis.

Not only do I think Allred is legit I think she's brilliant. She found a solution that solely benefits the children and spares the taxpayer. Checkmate Nadya. Now let's see if you are remotely capable of putting the children's interests first or if you'll reject it because donations won't be coming directly to you.

Yeah, I started to include Paula Jones but couldn't without more explanation. But yes, hard to mention Allred without Paula.

I think there was a one week deadline or something for OctoMom to reply to Gloria. No word yet as far as I know, but who knows. This thing moves really quickly.

Nadya did not accept the offer from Angels in waiting. Bad move.

Sadly most of us in this country want to see her lose these babies, we want them taken away and adopted into loving families, well, that's not going to be possible without ugliness and an extensive court process first with the babies being split up among foster homes.

It does make Nadya look bad that she did not accept. It will anger the public who feel they are paying for her irresponsibility.

Allred will be giving a press conference later today concerning octo-mom and supposedly she has "disturbing" phone conversations.

I don't think we want her to lose the babies, at least not exactly. It's just hard to accept that she (Nadya) can care for them properly.

Within the disturbing phone conversations apparently Nadya had said she wanted a REALITY SHOW and WEEKLY PRESS CONFERENCES to discuss the development of the octuplets, which was declined by Angels in waiting, they said definitely NOT, in addition to the 28 plus caregivers in the house, a camera crew on top of that is not healthy for the fragile infants immune system.

After they made it clear to Nadya that the help they are offering is help only and not for publicity or money in her pocket, she declined, well, it doesn't even say she declined. She never showed for a scheduled face-to-face meeting. She just stopped communication.

Clearly this woman is in it to cash in on her children. She doesn't care about what is best for them, but what will put the cash in her pocket.

saw on larry king live dr phil requesting nadya and her spokesman to talk to gloria allred.  dr. phil has a lot of faith in gloria.  gloria was on the show and she said nadya would keep the kids.  what is the problem with nayda to reject this most generous offer.  dr. phil said she is immature and doesn't understand consequences.  Nadya should be happy some group like angels in waiting are willing to help her.  beggers cannot be choosers.

It's pretty sad when a country lets media determine how they should feel about people and events.  You know I speak the truth.  If every news and talk show had reported this story in a supportive way, not only the country but the world would have rallied around this family with donations coming out the whazzoo. Instead, they have to condemn and it is my belief the government will be forced to take care of this family from now on.
