It's official: no one is immune to the nationwide housing crisis -- not even this family of cavedwellers in Missouri.
Curt and Deborah Sleeper face a balloon payment that they will not be able to make and are desperately searching for buyers of their cave home. They've even put it up on eBay -- bidding starts at $300,000. Check out the pictures and don't tell me you think it's not super cool. I mean, living in Festus, Mo., is not super cool. But living in a CAVE in Festus, Mo. would be.
The couple bought three acres of property that included the cave back in 2004 and built a three-bedroom home in the once-mining cave.
The couple won't accept donations but they will consider private financing (is it hard to secure a 30-year fixed on a cave?). Oh, and if you're interested in a tour, you'll have to wait a little longer. The newest Sleeper (hopefully not just in name) is living there -- in fact, just a few days ago, he was born there. Probably the first known cave birth in a reeeeeeeeeeeeally long time.
Just wondering, realtors: how do you pull the comps on a cave?
