Palin's daughter did an interview on Fox recently, didn't she? Face it, publicity is to the Palin's like a horse to water.

As for Biden's daughter, I could care less. No one's trying to hold her up as an example for the democratic party or the nation. Snort away.

The question is, does anyone care?

The answer:  No.

Wasn't the media all over one of GWB's daughters when she was spied drinking at a college party or something?  Personally, I don't really care what our politicians' kids do, but I do find it interesting that now that it's a new administration, new rules seem to apply.

If the Bush twins got crucified for underage drinking, shouldn't the same standard go for Biden's daughter.  Not that I think either should have to go through this but it's just another example of the liberal media picking and choosing what the country sees, hears and cares about.

Why would it be "sad" for this story to be forgotten in a couple of weeks, Carly?  It isn't any of our business, and unless I'm mistaken, she isn't involved in running the government.

I don't think it reflects on Joe Biden at all (any more than Jenna Bush's youthful misadventures reflected on GW). You can't actually control your adult children.

I DO think it reflects terribly on her, though. Buying cocaine (or having your friends buy it for you) is giving money to the evil cartels that are wreaking a trail full of havoc across the Americas (think Mexico and Columbia, for example). I don't care if she wants to alter her mind, but she has enough education that she really should know that participating in the international drug trade as a consumer is making yourself complicit to some extent with murder. It's wrong, and if the story is true, I think she should be ashamed of herself.

I'm always amazed at some americans' obsession witrh the "liberal" media. The same liberal meidia who toed the line very carefully for the first, I don't know, 6 years of the Bush administration?

Foreigner: You fail to grasp how amazingly reactionary a large segment of the American public is. Along with reactionary--and maybe this is a necessary part of being reactionary--many conservative and Christian Americans suffer from intense persecution complexes. But to stay on topic: I think we can discuss the children of public figures because I think we should feel free to discuss anything we want. And I do care a little about Biden's daughter using cocaine. For one thing, I like gossip. For another, perhaps it speaks to some of the hypocrisy in drug prohibition and the war on drugs.

Of course no one at Strollerderby cares...

Now if John McCain's daughter did this, that's news.

They didn't even have anything to say about the "Special Olympics" statement our president made on Jay Leno.

Dems are off limits here.  The sooner we figure that out, the better.

Um, I clearly remember a post about the Special Olympics comment on this very blog.  AND on this blog Palin's daughter was given way too much coverage.  To answer the question, I do not really care if she was snorting cocaine, or anything else she does in private.  It's the getting caught that boggles the mind, sort of like Phelps got caught...it's one of those "are you kidding me, you are smarter than that" moments.

You're awfully partisan there.  Stop playing tit for tat - no one would care about McCain's daughter either if she were to make the same bad choice.  Biden's daughter is 27, it's silly to make a political story out of it.  Sorry you are disappointed.

Much WAS made about Obama's bone-headed comment on Leno, and he offered a public apology.  Do you think he deserved a bigger flogging?  People say stupid things from time to time, and the 24-hour news culture lives for that crap.

It's time to focus on more substantive issues that do matter.

Not that I care <about the comment> but since it was brought up, where did you read about the special olympics comment on strollerderby? I actually was wanting to see how a liberal blog would cover that story or it they would at all. I never saw anything. In SD's defense, I never read the morning news update thingy. So, I may have missed it mixed with a bunch of other stories. I do remember far too many stories about Bristol Palin.

I remember the Bush twins getting media for underage drinking but it seems that I remember something about Chelsey Clinton and her college days getting media attention. I think it is stupid. Americans did not elect the kids, they elected the parents and not because of thier parenting, per say. I did not vote for Obama (I know, big shock there) but it had nothing to do with his parenting or what his children do in thier spare time. I didn't and don't agree with his experience or policies. Plain and simple. Joe Biden is a goofy feller but I don't think he should be judged by his children's actions. It does not mean he is not a good leader.

We, as a society, need to show the media that these stories are not wanted. Turn the channel, call your local station, don't answer the phone-in survey on the cable news channel, don't click the story link on the website. Why don't we start determining what is newsworthy instead of sitting back and complaining about it. (Obviously, I don't think commenting here about it provokes the problem.)

It's pretty amazing that after watching the republican party  ruin this country, the remaining conservatives respond by... logging into parenting blogs and whiiiining that adequate coverage wasn't given to an Obama gaff and a young girl's hasn't been adequately destroyed for *alleged* drug use.  Isn't there a Fox news channel you should be watching?

I was wrong....I might be stoopid Knitty, but at least I'm woman enough to admit I didn't read the article...and to link to me.  Wow!!  Sorry Strollerderby bloggers.  I was wrong.  But if you have a handicapped child, it wasn't appropriate, and yeah, you'd think he would know better.  And it does have to do with parenting.  He's our leader, and so far, I don't think he's doing a bad job.  And most Strollerderby bloggers and readers are holding him up as an example, what a great dad he is and so on.  I know I'm out there, but I'm guessing that if he had a handicapped child, he wouldn't have said it.  Oh well.  

I am pretty much of the opinion that while the kids of government officials should be off limits, the reality is they are put out there by their parents and you can't have it both ways.

Palin's daughter got pregnant. The Bush twins partied like most college students do.  And Joe Biden's daughter snorted coke.  The last two are illegal.  None of their decisions are smart, but I've made some not too smart decisions too, as have all of us.

What does it matter if the Special Olympics remark was addressed as an answer to a reader's question?  The fact of the matter is that it was addressed, and that this is where I read about it.  It was given almost an entire paragraph's worth of attention, which is more than most non-parenting topics receive.  Sheri, I DO have a handicapped child, and no, I wasn't thrilled with the remark, but I'm a lot more concerned about the Obama administration fixing our broken system than a thoughtless comment.

I love the new president and his cabinet. They just prove so much entertainment . Between the IRS and now this.. whats next?

Honestly, i think that we should be focusing on a better topic because i dont know if i should t laugh or cry from this story.

I do know that you have a handicapped child.  And from what I have seen, President Obama is interested in helping children on the spectrum.  Let's see if he follows through.  

I know the entire system involving anything to do with help for a child/adult with disabilities is really screwed up in my state (Indiana).  Neither party in this state has done much about it, because many handicapped people either can't or don't vote (not all of them, my oldest voted and is a huge Obama fan--he also liked W and Clinton, as did I).

The federal government is supposed to be giving more money to schools based on the number of special needs kids, but they have never come through with the money they have promised.  

Only time will tell....

Really, Republicans have ruined the country.  

Abe Lincoln was a Republican, don't think he did such a bad job....as was Ronald Reagan.  Two examples.  

What happened to Jimmy Carter???  A dem as I remember.  His presidency was so less than stellar, it bordered on pathetic.  

I think there are good presidents that came from both parties.  Kennedy was one of the greatest, as was Roosevelt (Franklin Delano).  

And the last time I checked, we do live in the United States of America.  Here in the great USA we have this little thing called free speech.  I can say what I want and if you disagree with me, great.  You know that I may disagree with you, but I'm not about ready to stop you from saying what you want.

I wondered why we never see or hear from VP Biden; and I actually think that the truth of the matter is that he was used to usher in Obama (experience) and because of his stance against CHINA his daughter was maybe set up - to get Biden quiet and out of the way.  Biden is a good man in my opinion and I would rather him as our President right now, rather than Obama (I voted for and DISAPPOINTED and feel BETRAYED by him now) that is kissing up to China's president instead of sanctioning them for TORTURE.  And Obama recently sounded like McCain re: jobs - and trade agreements - ship the jobs overseas and Americans can get retrained in new jobs.  It appears that Obama had CHANGED (NOT GIVING US CHANGE AS HE PROMISED) to melt in with the globalist elite group for a one world order and hanging out with Hillary I heard at secret meetings with the Bilderberg Members... Not sure if he felt pressured, scared of these guys, or wants the power and likes the MONEY and change of lifestyle he once had and has now.  Biden's daughter will e in my prayers and her dad needs to be there for her and for our country and he can do both.  We love you Vice President Biden.
