Mom Boots Bickering Kids from Car (You Know You've Wanted To)

Posted by KeriF

I won't pretend to scratch my head in ignorance, wondering how on earth a mother could kick her children to the curb after they fail to heed the 87th warning to "STOP FIGHTING RIGHT THIS INSTANT OR I PROMISE YOU I'LL PULL RIGHT OVER AND LEAVE YOU TWO ON THE STREET DON'T TEMPT ME I'LL REALLY DO IT!"

I completely understand the urge. I've felt the urge, after driving 3.8 miles with the feet of a 3-year-old planted firmly in my back, or listening to yet another argument between my son and his cousin about whether or not the Beast dies at the end of Beauty and the Beast, or hearing my 8-year-old niece wax poetic about how wonderful girls are and how yucky boys are, all within earshot of my two adorable (and yes, sometimes yucky) boys, or simmering with a migraine while five kids in the car decide to see who can scream the loudest.

But unlike this woman, I never acted on that urge.

Madlyn Primoff, a 45-year-old lawyer (lawyer! So she can't even claim she didn't know that abandoning her kids was illegal!) left her kids in downtown White Plains, NY after they wouldn't stop fighting in the car. Her 12-year-old daughter ran after Mom's car, where she was let in and joined Mom in her escape home to Scarsdale. The 10-year-old daughter stood on the street crying, until a good samaritan called the police (after buying the little girl ice cream).

Here's the kicker: Before police were able to get in touch with Mom, she called police herself to report her daughter "missing."

Primoff was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and being really, really, really stupid. She is temporarily forbidden contact with her daughters.

Do you have an ounce of sympathy for this woman?

It's funny how free-range kids presented this story in the completely opposite light.

And yes, I do have sympathy for her. Law enforcement over-reacts yet again.

wow I have no sympathy what so ever for her. She called to report a missing kid after she left her there. I have two kids and yes some days they drive me to no end but ditching them is unforgivable,my mother did the same to me. With the way kids can get takin in an instance. she is lucky as all hell that it was a good samaritan and not some sick sick person that found her. The main fact (that makes me extreamly happy) she wasnt raped and killed or sold to sex trades among many of the other horrid things some poeple would do to children. The saddest part of all the mother would still play the victim. in my experieance as a parent pull the car over take the keys out and get out of the car and take a deep breath.

White Plains, NY is just *crawling* with sick sick sex trade  salespeople. You find their business cards all over.

It may not be crawling with them but it only takes one. I agree with Tris. My best friends son was takin from a school grounds at lunch, in Hope British Columbia, a very small and seemingly safe comunity. Just proves it can happen anywhere. Thankfully we got him back safe after an amber alert went out.

I bet all the "sex trades" keep their ear to the ground for just this purpose - they put out an immediate alert to all "sex trades" in the area to let them know that hey, there's a kid wandering unsupervised in White Plains!

C'mon, guys - children are EXTREMELY SELDOM kidnapped by strangers. They are usually kidnapped by relatives, and they are usually molested by family members or other people they know. Stranger danger is a crock.

I can't believe a mother dropping her kids off for a three-mile walk is front page news.  And this article doesn't mention it, but she drove back to pick them up and then reported them missing when she wasn't able to find them.  I'm sure she was terrified when she couldn't locate them and really... big freaking deal.  Bunny is right, almost ALL children who are abducted are taken by family members, not strangers.

WOW! Again another instance of why some people just shouldn't have kids. If you're going to have kids, realize you are going to have to raise the damned things! You can't just leave them at the curb side. This mother deserves what ever she gets.

I had no idea making your children walk three miles was a crime!  12 years old is old enough to legally babysit.  The 12 year old should have been *babysitting* the 10 year old and walked her home.  If anything the 12 year old should be in trouble, not the mother.

Kudos to this Mom for not beating her children but making them walk it out instead.

Hey White plains po po (police) go eat your donuts and stop harassing moms!
