Feed America, Make Art on Bread
Want to plaster your cute kid’s picture on the Web AND help feed some hungry kids around the nation?
We’ve got a fun (and kinda kooky) way to do it. The Grain Foods Foundation and Feeding America have rolled out the Bread Art Project, where you can make toast with Jesus or, you know, your kid’s face on it.
For each piece of digital art on a piece of bread, the Grain Foods Foundation will donate $1 to Feeding America, and according to their figures, that $1 equals seven meals, ten pounds of food or four bags of groceries (not sure where they came up with those numbers, but they sound good, don’t they?).With demand on food banks up by an average of thirty percent this year over last, letting your kid fiddle on the net (on a totally safe site) is worth it.
Want to get started? The site is a little tricky to navigate, but check out the lower lefthand corner where it says “make art.” You can upload a picture of your little cutie on the window that pops up or just let them take the mouse and scratch out a loaf-worthy piece on wheat, white, country or oatmeal bred, then toast it to perfection.
Or check out the galleries full of some too-cute kids, some badly spelled (sorry, it’s true) sayings and some fantastic anime.
