Emily had a long run. With her charm and her simplicity she was the most popular girls name for twelve years in a row. But Emily has had to remove her crown. According to the Social Security Administration the most popular baby girls name now is Emma. Yes, a close relative of Emily but in the last year it has overshadowed Emily forcing her to drop not just to number two but to number three.
Emma first hit the top ten list back in 2002 when Jennifer Aniston’s character on “Friends” gave her baby that name. Pop culture continuing to influence baby naming. For the boys, Jacob continued to be the top choice for a tenth year in Jacob.
