Working as a parenting blogger, I never thought I would get to write the words "shark attack." For this privilege, I must thank Shannon for her post Dad Saves Son in Shark Attack. That dad makes me feel wimpy. I hope I'd be able to do the same thing in that situation. I'd certainly try. Now excuse me for a moment while I hum the theme from "Jaws."

• Hannah told us that even British parents can get all up in people's grill when the spirit moves them, in Parents Enraged by Emergency Contraception Commercial.
• For Babble's Music and Video Week, Gwynne Watkins interviewed Stephen Merritt about his new musical version of Coraline, in 5 Minute Time-Out: Indie rock's curmudgeon has written a children's musical - but don't tell him that. 
• Amy gave us the latest Children's Choice Book Award Winners. It was Children’s Book Week, after all.
• Oh, and Saturday Night Live did something funny. See the videos at my post, SNL Mother's Day Skits.
