Kurt Cobain died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1994. He would have been 40 today. While Nevermind changed the musical landscape for our generation (and inspired poor wardrobe choices on the West Coast that still haunt us), he left many questions in our minds. What would have become of him had he not succumbed to drugs and depression? Would he have been a good father to Frances Bean? Would he have continued to create great music?
I've always felt terribly sorry for his daughter Frances, who not only lost her father to suicide, but has a mother whose drug abuse and outbursts and other antics are constantly written up. My thoughts go out to Frances today, who is only 14. Like all children everywhere, she is an innocent in her parent's world. Hopefully, she'll fare better than her folks did.
