It's Presidents Day, the kids are off from school (why? why?) and
with the presidential campaign and election of Barack Obama, we haven't
heard this much about Abraham Lincoln since, what, second grade? So we
should probably talk about Lincoln ... at least with the kids.
But what? How? And are you sure you even know enough about the guy. (No? Me either.)

Review Press is a great place to start for (1) refreshing your memory
about the log-splitting Republican from Illinois and (2) getting your
kids interested in who many still think of as the nation's most
important president (so far?).
Abraham Lincoln for Kids
is a readable (for 9- to 12-year-olds) and read-aloud-able (for much
younger) kids who have, by now, heard enough about Lincoln to wonder
why we hear about him all the time but never see him on TV with his
wife and cute daughters.
