  Let's just hold our noses and get through this together. The U.K. Daily Mail (grain of salt, people) is reporting on rumors that Barack Obama had an affair with an aide back during his 2004 Senate campaign.  Interestingly, they deem it a "smear" in the headline and call it a "whisper campaign." • Sarah Palin's High School Grades?!?

  If someone is a “heartbeat” away from being the President of the United States of America, I want that person to not only be smarter than me now, but smarter than I was in high school. Sarah Palin, it appears, is not that person. There is “allegedly” a version of Sarah Palin’s (then Sarah Heath) high school grades from a "College Board Admission Testing Program" are floating around the web. With a grade point average of 2.2, she isn’t flunking, but this is far from depicting  “leader” braininess and there's not one “honors” class or A to boot. She even “allegedly” got a D in Foreign Language. But there is a lot of chatter and criticism that the report card could be a forgery. I’m not sure why any one would go through the trouble. They must have some serious time on their hands. Next tinme, maybe they could come over and clean my house instead. But in the end, this is just a good lesson for our children. • Virginia Teachers Get Flack for Pro-Obama Email

  The Virginia Teachers Union is in hot water for allegedly mixing education with politics. A union member sent out an email encouraging teachers to participate in “Obama Blue Day” by wearing a blue shirt (without displaying any candidate names), and getting at least two people to register to vote. • Obama not sure how long he's been married

  Politicians sometimes want to make people believe that they are just like us, that they can relate to our problems. Barack Obama definitely did that for me by telling reporters that he and wife Michelle would soon be celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary next week. Michelle's spokesperson quickly released a statement pointing out that, in fact, it was their 16th anniversary. Um, oops. This husbandly gaffe prompted MSNBC talking head Keith Olbermann to include Barack in the "Worst Person of the Week" list, although Barack lost out to Karl Rove. • Giant Palin Poster

  When I was a kid, I had posters on my walls. The biggest were of Reggie Jackson (great New York Yankee hitter from the late 1970's) and Superman (Christopher Reeve). This over five foot high Sarah Palin poster is presumably for adults, but I'm not sure if that's better or worse. That is, if it's for children, what child wants this on their wall? And if it's for adults, why is an adult hanging a gigantic poster of the Vice-Presidential candidate on their wall? Even my Reggie Jackson poster wasn't that huge. Read More...   I go back and forth on Sarah Silverman. Sometimes she cracks me up and sometimes I don't get her. This time I started out thinking, "huh?" and ended up laughing. Silverman is part of a web campaign called "The Great Schlep." The idea is simple: all Jewish children should go to Florida, a battleground state in the upcoming Presidential election, and force their grandparents to vote for Obama. • Muppet Op-Art

  In a piece in the NY Times today called "Puppet Government", beloved balcony boys Statler and Waldorf trade quips about the Presidential debates. The jokes, written by Hugh Fink, Scott Ganz and Andrew Samson, were obviously written before McCain threatened not to show up, so I'll add one: "John McCain says he won't show up for the debate until Democrats and Republicans stop arguing." "Guess there won't be a debate!" I wonder if this is part of Disney's Muppet Master Plan. I would say no because it's a political topic. But the jokes are non-partisan and The Mouse House doesn't exactly have a track record of allowing writers to do whatever they like with Disney-owned properties.
