You may have heard that the police department of Wasilla, Alaska--currently the littlest big town in the world--charged rape victims for forensic exams
while Sarah Palin was mayor. This is a bit like asking the bereaved for
hundreds of dollars before taking fingerprints at the scene of a
murder.
Now CNN has covered the story, including interviewing
the man who sponsored a bill to end the practice. He says, "This [the
bill outlawing charging for rape kits] was something that just about
everyone agreed on--except Wasilla."
