  • Things Fall Apart: eeBoo Blocks Choke Kids!

    eeboo blocksI've always liked eeBoo products. After all, how can you go wrong with a name like eeBoo? We have several things by this company, like the travel bingo. So seeing a recall by a formerly trusted company is a littel distressing, you know? Like being let down personally by Thomas the Tank Engine. When that went down I felt so...used. And this latest by eeBoo is no exception. I'm a little amused by their "Important Safety Notice", however, the one that says that they are essentially blaming someone else for safety problems in the production chain, saying that a "bait and switch" took place and they're just as surprised as we are that their toys are falling apart.

  • The Top Eight Toys in My House

    toysHaving a houseful of kids (mine are 11, 7, and 3) often means that there's a houseful of toys as well, but we've managed to (sort of) keep things streamlined in our house.  Although I cave in from time to time on the impulse purchases, when I think about it, I see a definite trend in what's actually being played with.  Here's our top eight (in no particular order):

    1.  Wooden trains and track. I am almost embarrassed to say how many of these we own, and while I tried, for a while, to avoid the commercialized Thomas trains, who can resist trains with faces and personalities?  Not my kids.  And we have the track to go along with it, having added more through the years as my older son got older.  He doesn't play with it as much anymore (but his sister does), but it'll all be there for little Eric one day when his interest in piqued.
