Peter Hartlaub at the Poop has a great post on the shakedown of competency
when the going gets tough for parents. While I bet most couples would
say they share the parental responsibilities equally one way or
another, there's always that crisis moment--like two flu-struck kids
projectile vomiting all over the place--when it becomes clear that one
parent could have a very successful solo career while the other one
might want to have car racing as a fallback option.
