progress -- real progress! -- toward a economic bailout plan. John
McCain's call to suspend his campaign appeared political, sure, but one
could have still argued "courageous." We could chalk Palin's cringe-y
interview with Katie Couric the night before to nerves.
Then evening came around. And everything just totally fell apart.
